Mixcraft is what you want. It's just as easy to use as garage band for mac and look almost exactly the same. Mixcraft FTW!

Sonic Foundry invented this technology years ago!
They invented ACID and everything from garage band to fruity loops is a direct copy. Fruity Loop from cakewalk(roland) got it's legs in Europe and came back to the states. Graphically garage band looks good but, it's the same old stuff. A semi pro light program. Sony bought Sonic foundry for 18 million dollars and has push Acid to be a full service program like logic, digital performer, pro tools etc. These programs are the most fun and the easiest way to put an idea out!! my 2 cents

Your problem with Audacity is you didn't have anything selected! When you want to edit certain sections, you select the part you want to change, THEN go to the effects menu. Try that.

Fruity Loops Studio is probably the best out there right now. I wanted to get GarageBand too at first, but FL studio turned out to be much better. You can get it for $50-70 at http://www.academicsuperstore.com

Take a look at FLStudio at www.fruityloops.com. The FruityLoops or Producer edition just might do the trick...
